Simplify

Simplify. Ahhhh. I love that word. I have had the above word plaque in my home for over 13 yrs! My husband and I were newlyweds and it was one of the first purchases of decor for our new home. I love the idea of a simple life, and slowly over the years I have learned bits and pieces of how to accomplish one. I have learned much, but have much to learn! Why do I value this? Well, a friend of mine (who has an amazing blog called "Becoming Minimalist") put it into words beautifully. Here is a quote from one of his entries:

"becoming minimalist has always been about more than removing physical belongings. for me, minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things that i most value. it is about deciding what is most important in my life and removing the things that distract me from it. it is about removing the urgent for the sake of the important."

I would love to be able to call myself a minimalist, but for me, it feels like I am saying I have arrived at my destination when really, I am still on the journey! (a bit shy of commitment, wouldn't you say?) So instead, I say that I am on the road to live simply. Doing this, I find under the layers of the unnecessary, what is most important: God, Family, Friends, Time, Growth. Exposed treasures that bring a simple life and peace. Ahhhh.
